I knew I wanted a therapy cat for a couple of months prior to Shanti’s arrival in my life. She arrived in July of 2013.
One of my clients found Shanti in a school parking lot. She was able to find her because crows were circling above her prone form. When she was discovered she was close to death. Her tiny system was overrun with external and internal parasites and had almost no fur on her body due to her severe malnutrition. She was saved by two remarkable women and when she arrived at my office with my client a week after she was found (still weighing less than one pound), I knew she had to be my therapy cat. The name Shanti is a sacred Sanskrit name that means “bringer of peace and tranquility” and she does just that.
